NextGEOSS aims to implement a federated data hub for access and exploitation of Earth Observation data, including tools for data-mining, discovery and exploitation. ED is involved in the development of a federated metadata and data architecture to integrate data, metadata and products from “Land”, “Marine”, “Atmosphere” and “Natural Disasters” domains in a distributed infrastructure.
Addressing critical challenges such as population displacement caused by conflicts, climate change, extreme weather, food shortages, and poverty is essential. THEIA, through its integration of data fusion, processing, and analysis—enhanced by Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) and Machine Learning—significantly improves the effectiveness of existing services. By combining multi-temporal and diverse datasets, THEIA enables informed decision-making and adapts to evolving policies and user needs.
This technological innovation, powered by GeoAI, enhances detection capabilities and ensures timely access to vital information, bridging gaps between operational demands and stringent security requirements. By incorporating non-space data and end-user intelligence, THEIA’s supply chains deliver value at operational, regional, and local levels, enabling better coordination and responsiveness.
Moreover, THEIA supports the EU’s strategic autonomy by fostering independent capabilities and strengthening the European space ecosystem. It ensures the sustainable integration of legacy systems with New-Space technologies, creating a balanced and resilient infrastructure.
THEIA’s services address the needs of diverse end-users, including EU organizations such as SatCen and Frontex, Member State Ministries of Defence, Intelligence Agencies, Police Forces, NATO, and potentially global entities like the United Nations.
European Dynamics will contribute mainly through the development of the THEIA crowdsourcing tool, creating a comprehensive database for Areas of Interest (AOIs), and defining high-velocity transnational data approaches. These efforts aim to enhance geospatial data collection, management, and dissemination capabilities, supporting diverse applications with timely, reliable, and actionable geospatial insights tailored to user needs across various domains.
