We currently have a vacancy for a Software developer, to offer his/her services as an expert who will be based at the premises of a major European Institution in Spain, and who will form part of its internal IT team.

Your tasks:

The objective is to support and participate in designing, implementing, testing and documenting data analysis packages written in Java and Jython on a Linux platform.

Specific tasks beyond general purpose software development include:

  • Graphical user interface (GUI) development and maintenance;
  • Interaction with the Jython community;
  • Development and maintenance of numerical libraries;
  • Writing and maintenance of documentation;
  • Provision and maintenance of test harnesses.

Your skills:

  • A university degree in computer science, physics, electronic engineering, or equivalent;
  • At least five years relevant experience in professional software development and software engineering coding Java applications;
  • Very good and broad knowledge of Java and GUI development;
  • Very good knowledge of; Unix based systems (Linux);
  • Configuration control system: CVS;
  • Object Oriented design methods;
  • Knowledge of InstallAnywhere is a strong advantage;
  • Knowledge of Jython is a strong advantage;
  • Knowledge of Windows (XP and Vista) and Macintosh based systems is an advantage;
  • Fluent in English.
